For the final assignment, we are doing an online queeratorial project that engages with social spheres within queer spaces. The online exhibition will unfold as participants add to and interact with users, the site, and its contents in an exploratory manner. It functions similarly to an Instagram or Facebook experience where the curation happens as a result of an amalgamation of user submitted content over time, remote collaboration, and algorithms. Queering traditional notions of “exhibition” and “spaces”, our curatorial project responds to current modes of communication and expression, and the decline of individualism and white cube framing. The exhibition challenges the notions of monolithic spaces by developing a pluralistic queer space that becomes a site of futurity as time progresses. Online spaces have often been a way to access queer spaces and to explore meta-narratives regarding fringe communities.
